The fact of the matter is that Demon’s Souls has, in most respects, aged remarkably well in the 11 years since its release. Yet, it’s that very quality that raises questions about whether or not Bluepoint really maximized its opportunities with this remake. Moving to the dual-wielded weapons, the character equips War Pick and Spiked Shield as primary weapons and Secret Dagger and Talisman of Beasts as secondary. This build setup maximizes damage output by hitting the softcap for all relevant stats. With a light weapon, you can get 700+AR, but it uses stamina to inflict damage.

Don’t position yourself in front of it, and try to hit it from the side. Doing so will release the boulders along the corridor this will kill a lot of Enemies, making the passage safe. Keep going up through the stairs, and once you reach the top, turn right to face the archer.

Do not miss this masterpiece at all, of course, if you like to be challenged. The community FromSoftware has developed around their post-Demon’s Souls project can sometimes be seen as rude and egotistical, and the idea of cheesing bosses becomes a divisive conversation. A huge point of contention with Demon’s Souls is that the healing grass system in the game makes healing overpowered.

Leveling up is done by upgrading any of the eight stats (vitality, intelligence, endurance, strength, dexterity, magic, faith, and luck). The type of stats that the player greatly affects gameplay, as it will determine the weapons, armor, and magic that they can use, ultimately defining their playstyle as they progress through the story. Most weapons must also be upgraded to level 6 to be available for transforming with a boss soul, however, some of them do not require improvements (such as the baton). That’s hardly the only way that the power of next-gen gaming improves Demon’s Souls. The PS5’s SSD eliminates Demon’s Souls‘ often crippling load times, which isn’t just a great quality of life improvement but makes soul and resource farming far more efficient.

Bosses drop Demon Souls and while you can devour these for Souls, it’s better to use them to create unique weapons as well as learn new spells and miracles. With all that in mind, it’s wonderful that Bluepoint Games mostly ignored all of the newer Souls games and thoroughly nailed this remake of Demon’s Souls. Showing that From Software has to finally pull its socks up and make something new for a change. Having played and finished every Armored Core game to date, thrashed the various Another Century’s Episode games and rinsed the likes of Metal Wolf Chaos. One of only two weapons occupying Demon’s Souls’ Very Large Swords category, the Dragon Bone Smasher is, as the name implies, a massive weapon forged with the intent of aiding in battle against dragons. With TG88 com of 30 and B damage scaling in that stat, it’s an excellent mid-to-late game weapon for Strength builds. Ironically enough, it’s not all that useful against the Dragon God due to the puzzle-like design of the fight. The Crescent Falchion isn’t well-suited for all builds, but it’s a must-have for anyone focusing on magic. The weapon scales very well with your Magic stat, and it allows you to passively regenerate mana while it is equipped.
