And although it means the loss of the endlessly entertaining sequences of a masked up Spidey taking the subway, it shows once again that Insomniac are one of the few developers capable of showing off the flashy speeds of an SSD. And although it makes the larger map somehow feel smaller, the density of detail crammed in each city block helps make the world feel alive. Wield Peter’s new symbiote abilities and Miles’ explosive bio-electric venom powers, and discover upgradeable, high-tech equipment that enhances the combat experience for extensive gameplay depth and variety.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 has almost identical specs to Horizon Forbidden West, another PS5 game ported to PC. However, that means that for PC fans, there was a bit of a delay in the development of a port. That would be Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy from developer Eidos-Montreal, a single-player action-adventure game starring the space-faring super team. Taking on the role of Star-Lord, you can give orders to Gamora, Rocket, Groot and Drax during combat, comboing teammate abilities for maximum effect. From twiping G28 to unlocking that mighty Platinum trophy, my time with Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 clocked in around 28 hours. The time spent purely on the main story I estimate came in around the 19 hours mark, and that’s a play-through done at a fairly leisurely pace. I really wanted to make the most of putting the Spidey’s new abilities to the test, exploring just how creative my webs could get.

EMF Experiments are just one of many side activities in Spider-Man 2.

While the Symbiote Surge is active you have to trigger Symbiote Abilities a total of 25 times. Equip 4 of these abilities and make sure they are all charged and ready before activating the Surge.
